When it rains, it snows. Be prepared for your Akron wedding photos!

In Northeast Ohio, there’s no way to guarantee perfect weather. Consider this past week; Tuesday was 60 degrees and sunny, it started raining on Wednesday which turned into a wintry mix on Thursday, and Friday morning I woke up with 4-6 inches of snow on the ground.

While the weather hopefully won’t be this crazy on your wedding day, one of the things I work with all of my clients on is to make sure that we are 100% prepared no matter what the crazy weather might bring.

Here are four tips you need to make sure are covered if you plan to do anything (ceremony, reception, photos) outside on your special day.

Tip #1 – Bring an umbrella!

This is something super easy that you may thank me for mentioning later. Whether or not the Doppler actually calls for rain, I encourage you to bring an umbrella just in case.

If on the other hand, the meteorologist is 100% predicting rain (or snow) for your Akron Wedding day, you might consider bringing along other fun rainy-day or cold weather accessories.

Think cute rain boots, cozy wraps, light blankets for guests, ponchos… anything that will make you and your guests more comfortable should the weather not be ideal.

Tip #2 – Get to know your venue, inside and out!

You need to know what your options are, should the weather conditions get too intense to take photos outside. This could be a beautiful indoor area with great natural lighting or even a covered space that’s outside. Whatever will keep you warm, comfortable, and hopefully dry, so that we can create images I know you’ll love forever.

If you are planning an outdoor ceremony, keep in mind that many venues will offer an indoor option as your ‘Plan B’. We can also utilize this space before or after the ceremony for bridal and family portraits if necessary.

Tip #3 – Relax and just go with it.

I want your images to reflect what’s really important that day; the love and commitment that you’ve made to each other as a couple! While rain can definitely influence where we take photos and what props might be included, don’t allow any potentially bad weather to make your day feel gloomy.
