When Kent mentioned shooting their engagement session out in the country on his uncle’s farm land, I’m not gonna lie, I was a little hesitant. I’ve gotten the “Hey, my family has land and we should use it for photos” comment before. As a photographer, what you see, and what I see can be completely different. Such as, I see ALL the cars, utility lines and poles, the trash pile, the unsightly buildings, etc in the background. Most people don’t notice them in person, because well, they’re focused on what’s in front of their eyes. However, I am ALSO up for anything that makes me think outside of the box, so I said “Sure!” and so we went all the way out to Garrettsville, Ohio, and when I pulled up to the house, lo and behold, Kent’s uncle lived on a gorgeous multi acre farm. It was a dream to photograph! Between the stunning hill that the sun set behind, to the barn, to the field of soybeans, everything was gorgeous. And, the temperature was perfect too, just a little above 70 degrees, cool enough to keep the mosquitoes away, but not chilly.
But honestly, how gorgeous is this country farm engagement session?!?
Now, Mindy and Kent have a very fun, playful relationship. So I absolutely wanted to make sure I captured that side of their love, while also giving them intimate moments, and poses that worked for Mindy. You see, Mindy’s not a very girly girl (and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, Hi, have you met me?!?) and the traditional, hip popped, knee bent, toe out poses just wouldn’t work for her. So we improvised and I think these images captured who Mindy and Kent are, and how they are with one another perfectly.
Oh, and did I mention they have a crazy pupper, who has all the energy? He also posed very well for me (between his bouts of craziness!!! Hahahaha).
