“I can not stop staring at myself!” This is the feedback I received after I shared Shay’s boudoir photo shoot images with her.
When Shay come to me to do a boudoir session, I was stoked! I know she had been through so much in the last year, health issues, being a mother of three, buying a house, opening a studio, it all had taken a toll on her. She had started thinking of herself in labels, mom, business owner, fiancee, chauffeur, problem solver, etc. You name it, she does it. One label she hadn’t applied to herself in a long time was sex goddess. I would not allow that to stand. While her boudoir session was a gift to her husband-to-be, it was much more than that. It was a way to bring her back to her primal self, to awaken to the realization that even though she was all those labels above, she was also a stunning woman. This was a rite of passage for her, a new way of thinking about herself. Boy, did it. Some of the things she sent me after I revealed her session almost made me cry.
I hate when anyone is unable to see what’s staring back at them in the mirror. Though this may have been her way of flaunting it before she lost it, a farewell of sorts, it was also a reminder that she was female, and she could roar. Words of advice to any woman reading this: always remember you carry the fire, Tiger. Don’t doubt yourself, stop devaluing your worth as a woman, and ALWAYS rock out with your hot bod – they come in all sizes.
When choosing a photographer for your boudoir photo shoot, just remember, you need to trust the person who takes your images to pose you. As a photographer I would never take images of you in an unflattering pose. It’s all about finding the perfect combination of lighting, posing, and angles that will show off your curves to their highest potential.
Have I mentioned that I absolutely love these images. #girlcrush #slay
